NFL=No Fun League

with 3 comments

The NFL has, unfortunately, followed the same path as the NBA in heavy handedly punishing any and all individual forms of expression.  This past Sunday, Falcons stars Roddy White, D’Angelo Hall and Alge Crumpler for individually showing signs of their former teammate, Mike Vick

I’m not getting into Vick’s actions or his case, my point is that individual forms of expression, like Chad Johnson’s “Future Hall of Famer” jacket, are what make the game fun.

This is the touchdown and following celebration by White that earned him a $10,000 fine from the league. Joe Horn (pictured left) even got fined $7,500 just for pulling White’s shirt down!

Holding this poster and writing “MV-7″ on his eyeblack patches earned Hall a $10,000 fine as well.

What’s happened to the NFL?  This post isn’t to abdicate Vick of anything he’s done, or even speak to that case, but individual forms of expression are what make pro sports fun.  Otherwise, it’s just a bunch of guys pummelling each other for 60 minutes.

What do you think?
